rtant annual national holiday is Independent Day. America declared independence on July 4-th, in 1776, when the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. Since that day, the 4-th of July has been the national holiday. It is celebrated with the parades, picnics and fireworks. The army fires a 13-gun salute to commemorate the first 13 independent American states. All the Americans like their traditions and are proud of them. And we hope it was interesting to listen about our traditions.
The leader: Thank you very much. Youve told us some unknown facts which are very interesting. All of us know that England is not a young country and its customs and traditions set deep roots into English culture. Lets listen to our English guests.

Pupil 1: I want to tell about the most favourite our holidays. They are X-mas and the New Years Eve. We celebrate X-mas on the 25-th of December. We give presents and send X-mas cards. Children wait for Santa Clause who comes into every house and put presents into their stockings. On New Year we decorate the New Years tree and have family parties. There is an interesting New Year tradition in the North of England and Scotland. Its an old custom of First Foot. The visitor who comes into a New Years morning is called the First Foot. This visitor brings symbolic presents of food ( some bread), a piece of coil, a coin. This means that the family will have good luck, will be rich and happy. The First Foot must be healthy, young and good-looking . He must be a dark-haired man or a boy, but not a woman.
Pupil 2: We have a custom of celebrating Mothers Day. Its usually in March on one of the Sundays and not obligatory on the 8-th of March. On that
