Laugh, Please.
Once there lived a famous writer who practised giving lectures to university students. At times he found it more difficult than writing books, especially when he talked to foreign students. Last year when the writer was visiting Japan he was invited to give a lecture to a large group of students. He knew that most of them could not understand spoken English. So he asked an interpreter to help him to make sure that the students would get the idea of what he was saying.
His lecture went on very well. It seemed that the students didnt have a problem understanding him and made careful notes of the lecture. At the end of the lecture the writer, who liked to keep the listeners happy, told them an amusing story. The story was long and he stopped to allow the interpreter to translate it into Japanese. The writer was very surprised when the interpreter did this in a few seconds and all the students laughed loudly afterwards.
When the lecture was over, the writer thanked the interpreter for his good work and then he asked him how he had coped with that long story so quickly, how he made it so short.
"I didnt tell your story at all, the interpreter answered with a smile. " I just said, our lecturer has just told a funn
