Our resolution is: Home task mustnt be compulsory.
Knowledge is important, and we dont say that we are against home tasks. We say, that children mustnt be obliged to do them. If they have good rest at home, the result of working at school will be better.
I want you to pay attention to the information taken from the journal "Kovcheg" (1999, April). when a journalist asked teenagers of one of Bostons schools "What do you feel about school?" about 40 of them answered, that they were afraid of school, bad marks and those report, which teachers sent to their parents. And 20 of them answered that they hated school.
For some pupils there is nothing so terrible as doing home tasks with parents watching them. They sit, looking at the clock and wishing the time were over, because the parents said, they had to be doing home tasks for 2 or 3 hours. Im sure all these are strong facts against your facts and against your resolution, of course.
The curriculum doesnt take into account physical, psychical and intellectual faculties of a person. Thats why we have the situation, which we have: School-leaves dont know what to be, because they dont have time to think about it.
Our 1st argument is: Career making is a vital thing for teenagers.
