Text: Four Leaf clover.
The four leaf clover is a symbol of Happiness in Ireland. It brings good luck to their finders. The first leaf is for Faith, the second is hope, the third stands for love and fourth is for luck. There is one four leaf clover among 10000 three leaf clovers.
Do you want to know how do these symbols appear in Russia? Then dont waste your time. We have 4 groups. Here you are. Read the text and put it in code. Paper and markers are on the desk. You may use numbers, marks and phrases. When youre ready, give your code to a partner group and check their speaking. All groupmates are welcome to speak.
Text 1: Bird of Happiness.
Bird of Happiness is a traditional North Russian wooden toy. It is made without clue. Russian hung it in every house. They began to do it 300 years ago in the shape of a dove.
Text 2: Karavay.
Karavay is a traditional round Russian sweetbread. It is the symbol of Happiness and the Sun. The puffier the Karavay, the happier the people will be. Karavay is divided among guests to share Happiness. Only happy woman with children could bake Karavay.
Text 3: Horseshoe.
The horseshoe is a U-shaped metallic object. Under the legend the Devil came to a blacksmith and wanted him to be bad. The blacksmith nailed horseshoes to the devils hooves. Thats why the horseshoe saves people from the Devil and brings Happiness.
Text 4: Stork.
If a stork made a nest on the roof of the house, people will live happily there. As the legend goes, when the baby Jesus took birth in the stable, the stork pull out its feathers to give a comfortable bed for the baby.
