(1) It must be remembered that this paper only represents changes in the pronominal system of Persian during the early years of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and not the present-day Persian. The study is based on the authors observation and field notes during the first years of the revolution.
(2) The English translations of the Persian terms given in this article only reflect the literal and not the actual meaning of the terms.
(3) The infinitive tæʃrif avordæn honorably bring is a polite form used instead of the neutral verb amædæn.
(4) In this sentence, although the speaker is directly addressing the hearer, the third person plural verb endings are used as if the speaker were talking about a group of people. This is a feature of the politeness system of Persian (see also Note 3 above).
(5) emam also has a restricted usage with reference to a prayer leader in a given mosque in Iran, particularly the leader of Friday prayers.
