Hello, dear guests! My name is Goloborodko Alina. Im in the in eighth form. I study at a secondary school in Koloskovo, Valuiki district. Today Im your guide. I invite you to tour one of the holy places of our native land. Our excursion is called The Temple of Theodore Pecherskiy.
To start with, Id like to say a few words about the spiritual life of the Belgorod land. Belgorodchina is a distinctive region, rich of historic, cultural and religious places and nature reserves. Our Region is often called The Holy Belogorye because of the numerous Orthodox temples, monasteries, chapels, healing springs, miraculous icons glorifying our land, it truly national culture. They help and support people, do them so much good and give the joy of recovery!
Orthodoxy in the Belgorod Region comes back to the times of the Baptism of Rus. The undecayed relics of Priest Iosaf, bishop of Belgorod and Oboyan (1705 – 1754), are the main sacred things there. Priest Iosaf was at the head of the eparchy from August 19th, 1748 till December 23rd, 1754. He was respected and honoured by his contemporaries for his harsh ascetic life, love and compassion for the poor and the wretched.
