his convictions and having a wish to preserve people from the passion of gold-loving, Theodore refused to do so. He said, God has taken my memory of the hidden place away. The Prince didnt believe him and ordered to torture him. So Theodore took a martyrs death for his faith. His memory day is celebrated on August 24th.
Since the church appeared in the village, a lot of people living there and in its neighbourhoods, including the schoolchildren, have become its active parishioners. They began thinking of such things as meekness, virtue, gentleness, patience, compassion. They wanted to learn more about the icons in the church, the Saints, Theodor Pecherskiy, about Sergius of Radonezh whose 700th birthday will be celebrated in September 2014.
Nowadays prayer services are held, children are baptized, and newlyweds are married in our church. Schoolchildren also attend it. The prior of the temple introduces them to the rules of conduct in Church, and its structure.
Every time I come into the church, I stay with the lighted candle in my hand and I pray for the health of my family, for peace, good and happiness on earth.
Id like to finish our excursion with the words of Archbishop Ioann, Great deeds and great faith begin with the small one, with such centres of Orthodoxy, as this Church.
