The students are asked to work in pairs and to make up dialogues following the model dialogue:

Pupil A: Do you know Mary?
Pupil B: Yes, I do.
Pupil A: How long have you known her?
Pupil B: Ive known her for six years.
The students are given some ideas to use in the dialogues:
live here/for … years
have a bicycle (a laptop/a mobile phone, etc. ) / since I was …
go to this school / for … years
be ill / since Monday
learn English / since I was … , etc.
The sts present their mini-dialogues to the class. After that the teacher organises some feedback which aims at correcting the mistakes the sts have made. The teacher writes the students answers on the board and asks them to correct the mistakes.
