e form I suggest completing the following table. The students are asked to complete the sentences in the table with have/has or havent/hasnt:
Affirmative
I/you/we/they:
He/she/it:
We travelled much since we met first.
She been one of my best friends since then.
Questions
I/you/we/they:
He/she/it:
we been friends for three years?
What countries she visited with me?
Negative
I/you/we/they:
He/she/it:
I been to Great Britain.
She been to my home-town.
I also suggest that the teacher should pay the sts attention to the contracted forms. There are some examples given and the sts have to finish the sentences themselves.
Ive travelled much since the time we met first.
Weve travelled much since the time we met first.
You
You
Hes travelled much since the time we met first.
She
It They
Complete the rules:
We form the Present Perfect with / the third form of the verb.
We use the Present Perfect to talk about: 1) something that happened in the past or 2) when we want to show that something started in the past but is still going on.
The students are asked to find two more instances of using Present Perfect in the story and underline them and explain them.
Controlled practice
At this stage the students are asked to do some activities which aim at practicing the use of the forms (have/has), the way negative sentences are formed and the word order in questions. First the sts do that individually. After that there comes pair-work when the sts compare the answers and finally we have feedback. As the sts are working, the teacher monitors and assists.
Write sentences using these words. Pay attention to the word order.
