open with a presentation of the Mississippi River. But first, Id like to present some new words. I think youll need them to understand what our guests will tell you. (Для лучшего понимания высказываний учащимся раздаются карточки с незнакомыми словами и их переводом). (Приложение 1, Слайд 3)
Ученик 1: Id like to say a few words about the Mississippi. The Mississippi River in the United States is called "the father of waters". The name Mississippi came from the Indian tribes that lived along the famous river. The length of the riveris 3950 km. In the Mississippi system there are 250 branches. From the earliest days until railroads were built in the western United States, the Mississippi carried most of the countrys traffic. (Ученик рассказывает о реке Миссисипи)
Учитель: There are some poems devoted to the river. Will our "guests" recite poems to us? ("Американские" учащиеся читают стихотворения).
(Приложение 2)
Учитель: Many of the cities along the Mississippi are or were centres of various types of music: jazz, blues, folk. So the Mississippi River is a river of songs, isnt it?
Ученик 2: Yes, certainly. I think it will be interesting to learn about this. I would say that probably every race and kind of person in the world has travelled up and down the Mississippi: at one time or other. In the 1960s simple but expressive forms of the blues became one of the most important influences on the development of popular music. The blues developed in the southern US after the American Civil War. It was influenced by church music and the folk and popular music of the whites. Now you have a chance to listen to a musical piece "Go Down, Moses". (Звучит аудиозапись, Слайд 4)
