A short text on the board: Nearly 80 of teenagers in the UK have one of these objects in their bedrooms. Some people will do anything to get on it. Some people think it is a bad influence on young people. What is it? (TV)
Read and guess what the object is.
Some more hints: We get the information about whats happening in the world from it.
It used to show black-and- white now it shows coloured performances.
Basic part.
1. Introducing the new vocabulary
1. 1 Write Watching TV on the board, elicit some vocabulary associated with watching TV: switch on/off, turn on/off, channel, a remote control, series. (2-3 min) Aim: make st-s refresh some vocabulary
What can you see in the pictures? (power point presentation) Is it a film? (the news, a chat show, a game show)
What are they? TV programmes!
1. 2. Matching. Match the programmes with their defenitions. Work in groups of four (handouts) (3-4 min)
