The historical centre of Moscow is the Kremlin. It is the oldest part of Moscow. It was built (был построен) as the fortress (крепость) on the bank (на берегу) of the Moscow River. It is surrounded (окружен) by a high red brick wall (кирпичной стеной) with twenty towers (башни). The main (главная) tower is called Spasskaya 9Спасская башня). It is a symbol of Moscow.
Many buildings (здания) inside the Kremlin were erected (были воздвигнуты) between the 15th and 17th centuries. They are unique (уникальные) monuments (памятники) of old Russian architecture. The most famous of them are the Uspensky Cathedral (Успенский собор), the Archangel Cathedral (Архангельский собор). The Blagoveshchensky Cathedral (Благовещенский собор) and the Granovitaya Palata (Грановитая палата).
There are many other places of interest (достопримечательности) in Moscow, such as Red Square (Красная площадь), St. Basils Cathedral (Собор Василия Блаженного), the Tretyakov Gallery (Третьяковская галерея). Moscow University, the Luzhniki Stadium (стадион Лужники) and a lot more. They have a world-wide fame (всемирная слава).
