Starter:
Prior Knowledge-
Place all of the school objects in front of the learners
Ask learners how they may use these various school objects
Ask learners if they have ever eaten something by accident.
Main:
Introduce the Book-
Ask learners if what the lady appears to be doing on the cover.
Once learners realize that it looks like the lady is swallowing books encourage them to think of reasons why she might be swallowing books.
Picture Walk-
Take the learners on a picture walk through the book.
Challenge the learners to look carefully at the pictures.
Point out to learners that on each page a new school item is swallowed.
Say the English names of each item and have learners repeat after you.
Read-Aloud-
Read the story using story props (books, a pen, a pencil case, a ruler, a folder, chalk, and a backpack) to tell the story.
Have the children sit in a circle and give each child a prop to hold.
Direct each learner with a prop to bring his prop to the middle of the circle at the appropriate time.
Plenary
Together, in a choral response, learners will name the school items from the story in sequential order
