Task 6:
-What was the ancient marinees crime? Find the lines. (lines 9-12)
- Find the examples of supernatural phenomena in the text (39-42, 43-46)
- In which direction was the ship going? (northwards, the good south wind . . . blue behind)
-What happens to the ship? (. . . down dropt the breeze, the Sails dropt down. . . ,water,water everywhere,ne any drop to drink. . . )
- Find the lines to underline the impossibility to escape (silent sea, painted Ship, painted Ocean)
- How does the marine feel about having killed the bird? (guilty) Prove it by the text(And I had done a hellish thing and it would work em woe. . . )
- Find the lines to demonstrate the sufferings of the sailors (lines 51-54)
-How do his fellow marinees react? Are they consistent in their attitude? (they are glad at first, for its a bad fortune to have an albatross on the mast, but afterwards they blame him, lines 55-58)
- How does the author show the relations between nature and man in this poem? What lesson does the poem teach us?
Homework: Take the last question into consideration and write an essay to answer it. Dont forget about the structure (introduction, main body and conclusion).
