ame for the narrator, because the author wants us to put ourselves on the place of the protagonist. We have only one setting, which is the room where the narrator and the giant meet. Theres only one setting because were interested in the problem and in the conflict that is raised by the author, but were not interested in the behavior of the characters in different situations. He rents a house and hears many different noises and he is afraid of them. To show the terrible condition of the narrator, the author uses such stylistic device as dramatic monologue. Now what was the most natural thing for me to do, to male men satisfy this wish? Terrify them into it! This monologue makes us clear about the frustration of the narrator. And after some time, the ghost appears in front of the narrator. This is a Cardiff giant, who is the antagonist of the story. He is round and static. The giant is telling the narrator his story, and here we come across a flashback, which tells us, that the giant frightened people in the museum, but when there was no one, he started frightening people in the house. And we immediately see the opposition between the narrator and the ghost. One is alive and healthy and on the opposite side there is a ghost, a dead being, a ghost, who is supposed to lack emotions, but he seems more alive than the narrator. The narrator is focused on his work, he has no friends, no family, and thus he is more like dead. I suppose that a man shouldnt be obsessed with just one thing. A person should try to make new friends, family, he shouldnt be alone in this world. And we also see some other conflict that is the inner one of the ghost.
