In Kazakh society according to tradition those days a great day was considered the beginning of the year. At night on the 21st of March according to folk mythology and its concepts, "Kadyr-ata" walks homes.
Our ancestors did not sleep that night, and met Kadyr-ata. People had their that night and they believed dreamswere come true in the New Year.
A long time ago people lit torches in the evening and walked around the village. People walked with torches and hoped that a dark force left with the Old year. Kazakh people considered that Great daywas special and sacred. That day people wore clean and new clothes. People lit torches and greeted Kydyr-ata. People gave wishes to Kadyr-ata, and he fulfilled their wishes. Men shook hands to each other and women embraced and wishedgood luck.
