e New Town. Edinburgh Castle is situated on the Castle Rock. It was used as a fortress and then a royal palace. It looks like a castle in a fairy tale. Many tourists visit it with great interest. Another interesting place is Holy rood House. It is a big, royal palace, the residence of the Queen when she is in Edinburgh.
Glasgow, the industrial heart of Scotland. Ship building was once a great industry. But now it has been replaced by new, high technology industries and by commerce and tourism. New hotels and offices are changing the way Glasgow looks. Glasgow has a busy cultural life. A lot of musicians, actors and singers come to Glasgow to give concerts. In the evenings the opera house, the cinemas and the concert halls are full. In cafes and pubs small groups sing, act, read poetry. Glasgow is famous for football teams: Rangers and Celtic. Most people in Glasgow are fans of one of the teams. When they play against each other, thousands of fans go to watch.
