A Ghost story
Let me present the story that I have recently read. The story is called A Ghost story written by Mark Twain. First of all Id like to tell a few words about the impression the story has produced on me. I cant say that the impression is very good, as I was expecting something more. I really liked the beginning with something terrible to happen, but when the giant appeared everything seemed boring for me.
The language of the story is simple. The composition is traditional. It involves the reader gradually as the plot is developing step by step. The reader is smoothly sliding down into the context. The story is presented in the 1st person narration.
This is a story of a man, who rents a room which was unoccupied for years and turns out to be haunted. The very first night the main character hears voices and whispers, and is full of superstitious fear. He finds on the floor in the middle of the night huge footsteps and is frightened to death. But as the ghost appears the relief follows as it turns out to be the Cardiff Giant who cant find piece because of his body being located in the museum across the street. And the feelings and dignity if the ghost are lowered when it turns out that his real body is not even in the museum but in the other state. He leaves, miserable and alone.
The theme of this story deals with something supernatural, that we are not alone in this world, but digging deeply, we can say that it is about the relationship between the ghost and people. The nature of this theme is not only philosophical (to believe or not to believe), but in my opinion social, as many people are afraid of ghosts, as some terrible a horrible beings.
The protagonist of the story is the narrator. He is a flat and static character. There is no n
