If you look at the noticeboard you will see some drawings made by our students. To my mind? They are lovely. And so are Elvis Presley’s songs. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we do!

  • Ход урока. Развитие навыков аудирования и говорения.

Student1: Elvis Presley was born in Missisipi in 1935. When he was 13, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Here in 1954 his first song was recorded. Let’s listen to it! Its name is “That’s All Right(Mama)”

Student2: In this song and those ones which came later Elvis combined the sounds of blach people’s music and country style.  I suggest singing together  this famous song written in 1956. “Heartbreak Hotel”

Student3: His musical achievements are tremendous. More than a billion of vinyl records and CDs. 149 songs were on the top in the various  music charts and this record hasn’t been beaten yet. He got three Grammy Awards.

Teacher: His musical success led him to Hollywood.  His first film was called “Love Me Tender”. And here is the song of it.

Student1: This composition is very lyrical and gentle. But not all his songs are like this.

Please come here and let’s imagine that we’re at the disco! Tutti Frutti!

Teacher: That was amazing! Your dancing  was cool. But let’s learn some more facts about Elvis.

Student2: In 1964 Presley seemed to  lose  his popularity. The first reason was stagnation in his music and the second one was “the British Invasion” started by the Beatles. Oh, those were great rivals! By the way, Elvis met the members of the group in 1965 but the meeting was kept in secret, there were no photos or articles in the press.

Student3: One of Presley’s most famous songs is “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. He performed it at the end of his concerts. Let’s listen and sing together.

Teacher: This talented singer sang many other songs. Unfortunately, he had problems with health and he got addicted to the medicines that doctors had prescribed to him. He had to miss concerts and performances and even went to hospital several times. On the 16th of August 1977 Elvis Presley was found dead in his bathroom. His fans were shattered by his death and didn’t want to believe it.

Student2: Presley’s fame is so great that many people call him by name – Elvis – and it’s clear who they mean. His style is imitated by other singers. His songs are still popular. There’re many films about him.

  • Завершение урока
